Another group closely checking out an instant print I made. I had recently bought this battery powered unit by Canon that printed, in full colour, a post card print- with the back already made into a post card. Easy for this one handed guy to use, and it never jammed in the field.2005
One thing one their minds this New Year day. "Male 'friends' ", is what they told me when I asked...
You very rarely see these guys anymore- they die your clothes black for about 15 baht for a pair of pants, though mine, "being big and thereby sucking up lots of die", were 40 baht. Two years later, they still look great... These guys drive around on pedal bikes with everything they need, including their own fire for heating their water, hanging off the end of their bike, always completely dressed in black,(with a dark purple topcoat in some areas.). In front of my house, 2005
Who needs to read Thai? Of course, this is an 'Elephant Crossing in 100 meters' warning....2005
This is the only guy who ever asked for a photograph, and I was happy to oblige him and his proud family a framed 8x10, which I know his family will always value, and always remember 'our' story of that day. Makes me feel great, too... 2005
My first year in Thailand (1986) was spent living in some bungalows on a deserted beach on Kho Samui, Thailand. Sure ain't deserted today... The owners had a not yet two-year old, and here I am teaching him about 'bye-bye', when his moment of learning was actually caught on film (by my Australian lady friend). That's why this picture is called 'My first Student'.. Kho Samui, 1986
These monks are leading a funeral procession on a very hot day. The white cord is stretched back the crowd of followers, to be connected directly inside the coffin. Phrao, 2004
This is a compressed picture of the long parade. The first vehicle following people walking is carrying the coffin, the second vehicle is the flower truck, with his funeral flowers, followed by the music truck, which has at least 10 musicians inside making music
And finally, here is the coffin, one of the most elaborate I've seen here. And this is a small village 2005
