To get to and from school, thai kids ride in these converted pickup trucks. Not very safe, but accidents seem rare.
Traveling in Burma, I saw this kid sitting alone, and I snapped a picture. The kid started crying, and then his dad came over from his work as a charcoal deliverer to lend some comfort. nice photograph. 2005

I ran across this guy, pushing himself backwards about 3 kilometers. He can only control his foot well... I was quite impressed with this guy, since most handicapped people are kept off the streets, behind closed doors. But this guy was out selling lottery tickets and mostly taking care of himself. Inspirational. 2004

Unfortunately, there are many of these deliberately set fires at night in the north during the dry seaon. Combined, these fires create major health effects at least three months per year.
