Minnesota Food Share
Minnesota FoodShare, an interfaith collaboration, achieves solutions to hunger through community action. The March 1998 Minnesota FoodShare Campaign raised 4.3 million pounds of food (2.3 million pounds, and $2 million) by resourcing and coordinating 4,800 food and cash drives in congregations, corporations, schools, and civic organizations throughout Minnesota to benefit the 250 local foodshelves. FoodShare also is an active voice in advocating for public policies affecting people living in poverty and hunger. In October 1997, FoodShare launched The Twin Cities Building Blocks Project to ensure that children have access to food programs for which they are eligible.
