We ate at a chinese resturant and they had an appetizer that was called hula beef. They are thin slices of beef that they thread on a skewer and serve with a thick garlic sauce. They use to have small grill type things that you would heat them up on. Would anyone have any idea how they made the sauce.

No idea actually but looking into chinese cuisine, i can guess.

Oyster Sauce
Garlic
Chinese RIce WIne
Corn Starch
Seasoning
Lea and Perrin ( think so )

Hula Steaks
4 servings 20 min 10 min prep
Change to: servings US Metric
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup brandy or bourbon
4 steaks, about 1-inch thick
Combine ginger, garlic, brandy, soy sauce, and brown sugar in a shallow dish or zip lock bag.
Add meat and marinate for 1 hour or up to 8 hours turning occasionally.
Grill or broil steaks to desired doneness (6-8 minutes per side for medium-rare)
